This record really needs no introduction; both bands are as well-known as the famous "Heritage." The still relatively young LION'S LAW from Paris meet the veterans STARS AND STRIPES from Boston. Musically—and you can hear it—they are undoubtedly the cream of the crop of the scene. The Americans, and this has long been no secret, are none other than the Oi! version of SLAPSHOT, with the unmistakable vocals of Jack "Choke" Kelly. For years, the band has featured the hits from the not entirely uncontroversial "Shaved For Battle" LP in their live repertoire, and for some time now, their performances as STARS AND STRIPES have been on the rise again, always performed with the band's signature tongue-in-cheek flair. Stars and Stripes tuck their way through "Knock 'Em Out" by Lion's Law and follow it up with a new song, "Lion's Law." The "Sons of Oi!" from Paris reimagine the Stars and Stripes mega-hit "The Power and the Glory" and add the title track "Heritage" on top. It's absolutely baffling to me how the French can evoke anger and aggression so melodically as they do time and time again.
